Rules & Terms
Submissions must be made by an authorized Owner/Producer of the film.
All Films must have been completed after April 1, 2016
Films should not have been in Commercial Release prior to the end date of the festival, including DVD release or Online Streaming or Commercial Viewing. Screening at other film festivals is fine and/or other private screenings.
All films must be in the English Language or Subtitled in English.
Film content should not be of a pornographic nature. Nudity/Strong Language is okay.
Rule may be modified at any time and will be published on The Alhambra Film Festival Official Site.
If selected for exhibition, the Festival requires:
--For all films: Submission of a film on DVD or via file transfer.
Files must be in a playable format, the acceptable format is .mov. (If your file is in a different format, we will work with you to convert if needed.)
--For Feature-length Films, send two DVD copies.
- Digital press kits, including a 150-word synopsis and 1 sentence
synopsis. This information will/may be used in the official program and/or in promotion of the festival.
- Headshots of Director(s) and Writer(s) (optional, but recommended)
- Biographies of Director(s) and Writer(s) (optional, but recommended)
- Trailers, clip reels, posters, postcards, and EPKs, if available, to maximize exposure for your film.
Categories are defined as:
Fiction, non-fiction, animated, and experimental films from the U.S. and around the world (51 minutes or more)
Fiction, non-fiction, animated, and experimental short films from the U.S. and around the world (50 minutes or less).
These may include Web Series. We would suggest on a Web Series Submission, either 1 full episode or a block of 15 minutes or less.
College Student Films
Short films that have been shot, directed and produced by college/university) students. Adult supervision must be limited to an advisory capacity only.
High School Short Films
Short films that have been shot, directed and produced by high school students. Elementary and/or Junior High Students may also submit in this category. Adult supervision must be limited to an advisory capacity only.

Projects completed after April 1, 2016
PLACE OF ORIGIN
Projects may originate from anywhere in the world.
If English is not the main language, the film must be sub-titled in English.
No premiere requirement
Project must not have distribution
2 SUBMISSION COPIES REQUIRED if sending in on DVD/BlueRay.
The Festival accepts DVD (including BluRay) submissions and secure online screeners via Withoutabox and Film Freeway. We also accept secure online screeners (i.e. Vimeo, YouTube) that are not available to the public.
Submission Package Requirements
Each DVD submission package must include a copy of the completed Withoutabox or Film Freeway entry form.
DVD Preview Copy Format:
Preview copy must be submitted on DVD or as a Secure Online Screener via Withoutabox or Film Freeway. For DVD submissions, both PAK and NTSC systems are accepted. Region 1 (US & Canada) and Region 0 (region free).
DVDs are preferred but we accept all regions.
DVD Preview copies will be retained by the festival.
For feature length films (50 mins or more), submit two DVDs.
For short films (under 50 min) or music video, submit one DVD.
All Submission materials must be delivered together in one package. Do not deliver your submission materials until you have completed your online entry and be sure that your online entry number is printed clearly on all materials. Please note that preview DVDs and all other submission materials will not be returned.
We encourage you to include in your submission package:
Digital press kits with photo stills (color and black/white)
Headshots of Director(s) and Writer(s)
Biographies of Director(s) and Writer(s)
Trailers, clip reels, posters, postcards, and EPKs, if available, to maximize exposure for your film.
For all submissions, include the English language title and the running time on the DVD itself. Indicate the region-coding of the disc, and if the DVD is in PAL format, print "PAL" on the disc. If Submitting a work-in progress, indicate the elements that are incomplete on the DVD
You may submit more than one film, but each one must be on a separate DVD and must be accompanied by its own completed submission form and entry fee
Ship your DVD in a protective envelope. The Festival recommends bubble pack envelopes over fiber-pack envelopes as the fiber type can lead to damaged DVDs and DVD players. The Festival is not responsible for damage to submitted materials incurred in shipping
All entries form outside the US should be sent Air Mail, Registered or by a parcel or express Service. We cannot accept entries shipped via air-freight if customs and delivery fees have not been paid.

Submission Package Checklist
The Festival accepts DVD Submissions and Secure Online Screeners.
If Submitting a DVD, we require a printed-out copy of the Withoutabox or Film Freeway submission confirmation form and a DVD Preview Copy labeled with Title, Duration and Withoutabox or Film Freeway Tracking Number
